Buthod Workshop instrument, Mirecourt, circa 1900.
Purchased by the previous owner from Ealing Strings in the 1970s for use as a spare instrument, this violin is in excellent condition. Since the passing of that owner two decades ago, the instrument has had almost no use. Recently the violin was lightly renovated by Helge Grawert, the work mainly being to reset the neck and to fit a new fingerboard. Otherwise it is largely in original condition (including the original rosewood pegs). There are no cracks or damage to the table whatsoever. Set up by Helge Grawert with Kaplan Vivo strings, the violin has a bright and powerful sound.
