Caussin violin

Caussin violin

Labelled: “Copie de Iofredus Cappa in Saluzzio Fecit Anno 1640 9”

A good example of François Caussin in Neufchâteau circa 1870, including the label, and in excellent original condition.  Instruments by Caussin and his family workshop were made for the trade, being heavily antiqued in style.  The previous owner of this instrument bought it in 1945 and consigned it to us in 2018.  He has sadly passed away so we are handling the sale on behalf of his estate.  It is set up by Yuri Djachenko and David Patterson with Thomastik Vision strings.
