Hel School violin
We bought this violin many years ago for professional use.
Description
Purchased from the estate of a retired dentist who lived in Rockhampton, he had always believed it to be Joseph Hel. However the late Michael Byrd (well-known violin restorer based in Kingston-upon-Thames in London with a world-wide clientele) declared it was unlikely to be Joseph Hel but possibly by another family member, or someone who had worked for Hel, or was associated with the Lille School circa 1900. Therefore we are selling this instrument as Hel School. It is a very fine sounding instrument, and a bargain as it has no specific maker’s provenance. The violin was played professionally in the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and in the Royal Philharmonic. Lightly restored and set up by Helge Grawert with Larsen Virtuoso strings.
