John Johnson violin
Made in London circa 1750 by John Johnson (c.1719 – c.1762).
This violin was used by an Australian professional orchestral violinist for several decades. Imported to Australia in the 1960s by Sid Vyse, it has a very peculiar label presumably inserted by Vyse. However we have carried out extensive research on the violin in London and believe it to be genuine and from Johnson’s London workshop. The violin has had a light restoration by Helge Grawert, and is set up by him with Evah Pirazzi strings.
