Michael Taylor viola bow
Silver mounted ebony frog with pearl eyes, silver wire lapping, octagonal stick stamped EALING STRINGS on the player side, and MICHAEL J TAYLOR on the audience side, 70.1 grams
Michael Taylor (b.1949) is the foremost English bowmaker of our time, and founded the bowmaking department at the former Ealing Strings where he worked for over twenty years. In 1995, following the death of Ealing Strings’ founder Malcolm Sadler, Michael left to work in his own workshop, first in Hedgerley, Buckinghamshire, before relocating to Spain. In good original condition with minor wear to the pearl slide, this bow is an early example of Michael’s work at Ealing Strings, made in 1973.
