Stöhr violin bow
Nickel mounted, ebony frog with Parisian eyes, 3-piece nickel & ebony button with pearl eye, silver wire lapping, round stick stamped H.A.STÖHR 62.2 grams
The Stöhr family were early 19th century violin makers in St Pölten now on the outskirts of Vienna. The Stöhr name was reused by various German bowmaking houses producing bows for the trade. This bow was consigned to us by a pianist who has given up playing the violin, she bought it from her elderly mentor who bought the bow new some time in the 1970s. The bow is in very good condition, and is freshly rehaired with new lapping and thumb leather.
