Viola bow probably Charles Nicolas Bazin

Silver mounted, the later ebony frog with Parisian eye, round stick, unstamped, 68.5 grams.

The maker is of this bow eluded us for a considerable time.  However, detailed research by us and by colleagues here and overseas leads us to believe that it was made by Charles Nicolas Bazin (1847 – 1915) as a copy of James Tubbs, around 1900.  Frog and button are not original to the stick, which has also had the original silver face replaced at the head.

Freshly rehaired and with a new thumb leather.  A fine playing bow that is in excellent but unoriginal condition, and priced accordingly.
