W. E. Hill & Sons viola bow by Yeoman
Silver mounted ivory plain frog mounted with metal liner (unusually for Hill bows) with 3-piece button, imitation whalebone lapping, round stick, 70.0 grams. Made by Sidney Braithwaite Yeoman in the last years of the 19th century, and stamped W. E. HILL & SONS
This bow is extraordinarily rare and represents early work from the Hill workshops before many of the usual attributes of their bows were standardised by Retford in the early 20th Century. It is in outstanding original condition and has been in our long-term ownership for professional use.
